Portland Marathon Event Directors' College 2008
PORTLAND MARATHON EVENT DIRECTORS' COLLEGE 2008
It's all in Portland... and you're invited!
Don't miss the 19th Annual Event Directors College in Portland, Oregon, Oct. 3rd through the 4th. It is held in conjunction with the Portland Marathon. It will be a fun, interactive and educational experience. It is primarily a "tactical" hands on workshop where the details on "how to" put on an event are reviewed and discussed.
Here is a sampling of what we did in 2007:
- Top quality guest presenters, with expertise in sponsorship, event management, event directing, administration, marketing, public relations, to name just a few.
- Some of the best assemblage of industry representatives in the world including: Jeff Galloway, Joe Henderson, Wally Kastner, Julian Smith, Phil Lockwood, Bart Yasso and many others.
- A make-up of Event Directors from small to large events, willing to openly share and learn.
- College handout - 700+ page Event Director's IdeaBook on CD Rom, in addition to other presentation materials.
- Networking, social events and participation in many of the scheduled Portland Marathon events as a spectator, VIP, volunteer or participant.
- All kinds of other 'special goodies'
Our workshop for 2008 will be another "must attend" event. The program, topics, and networking opportunities will be outstanding. No secrets will be withheld, and no stone will be left unturned!
This year we will again have a three day conference. We will start on Thursday, and devote part of that day to medical, sponsorship, and revenue producing sources for running and walking events.
Friday's format will be our traditional and popular sessions in the a.m. covering the topics of event management/organization. The afternoon will feature our technology session, which will cover a variety of current key issues, including vital information for events on intellectual property rights, i.e. domain names, trademarks and copyrights-subjects too often overlooked by event directors as well as the latest in website technology, registration and using technology for developing and growing an event.
On Saturday we'll look at those critical subjects of current interest in our industry, including the new developments and trends our experts believe are now in vogue. Congressman Earl Blumenauer, our US Congressman who has run the Portland Marathon 25 times will speak on political networking.
Presented in panel format, our faculty of experienced event directors and experts makes our conference one of the best information and idea exchanges in the industry. This is not a "big picture" conference. This is a get together where the critical details and finer points of the art of event directing are covered. Review the list of subjects we'll be covering as well as the conference schedule on the following pages and we're sure you'll conclude it's a conference you can't afford to miss! This year, to ensure the most successful and instructional event, we are again limiting enrollment to 100 attendees-so we encourage you to sign up early!
