Special Divisions

Clydesdale and Bonnydale Competition

Since 1986 the marathon has recognized that larger, heavier participants are at a disadvantage when competing against lighter counter parts. To meet the challenge the Clydesdale and Bonnydale divisions have been established. Categories include:

39 and under and 40 and over for:
Men Women
185-199 145-159
200-224 160-179
225-249 180+
250-299
300+

In addition there are "Pump and Run" divisions where participants may bench press weights at the Hilton during the packet pickup. A formula of weight pressed at the time of completion is used to determine winners.

39 and under and 40 and over for:
Men Women
185-199 Bench 205 145-159 Bench 110
200-224 Bench 215 160-179 Bench 115
225-249 Bench 225 180+ Bench 120
250-299 Bench 235
300+ Bench 250

Those interested in these divisions must officially sign up for the competition at the Portland Hilton during packet pickup. Look for signs in the main Expo room. There is a special $5.00 entry fee. Award winners known at the time of the awards ceremony will be announced. Awards are sent to winners after the event.
